A survivor of the Hamas terror attack talks about the day when she witnessed a woman being raped and relying on her late husband’s blood to survive

On the anniversary of the Israel-Hamas conflict, Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv hosted a poignant commemorative event that turned somber when air raid sirens pierced through the gathering. Survivors gathered to share their deeply traumatic experiences, highlighting the horrors they endured.

One survivor, a woman who escaped during the Nova music festival, described the chaos she witnessed as armed militants launched their attack. Tragically, her husband, married for less than a year, was killed in this assault. In a desperate bid for survival, she covered herself in his blood, hoping to convince the assailants that she was among the dead.

In powerful testimony reported by the Jerusalem Post, Yuval Sharvit Trabelsi described her harrowing experience during the Hamas attack. She recounted the moment when her husband, Mor, was murdered, while she helplessly observed women around her being assaulted.

“We witnessed murders and kidnappings,” Trabelsi shared, “but the hardest to bear was the sexual violence. I had never heard such desperate cries for help as that woman’s.”

She vividly recalled the moment she smeared her husband’s blood on herself, a grim tactic that helped her avoid detection by the attackers.

The tragic assault on the Nova music festival early on October 7 resulted in over 360 fatalities.

As the commemorative event proceeded, it was abruptly interrupted by another air raid alert, warning of missiles launched from Yemen. This sudden threat forced attendees to lie down on the ground and cover their heads in terror, a chilling reminder of the ongoing danger they face.
