Fujian’s tourism to Taiwan heats up, and cross-strait cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation are intensifying

On October 5, a tour group consisting of over a hundred travelers departed from Xiamen, Fujian, embarking on a two-day sightseeing adventure in Kinmen. This excursion was organized through a collaboration between Xiamen Travel International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Airlines International Travel Agency Co., Ltd.

Following the resumption of travel for Fujian residents to Matsu on August 22 and Kinmen on September 27, there has been a noticeable increase in travel between Fujian and Taiwan. The momentum surged particularly during the National Day holiday, as diverse cultural and tourism activities enriched exchanges across the strait.

In line with this cultural tourism promotion, Fujian launched a series of engaging events to celebrate National Day. On September 26, the Fifth Cross-Strait Folk Genealogy Cultural Exchange Conference and a new “Fujian-Taiwan Ties” exhibition were held at the Fujian-Taiwan Relationship Museum. Moreover, from September 30 to October 3, the “National Day Celebration in Town” showcased over 20 Taiwanese merchant stalls in Quanzhou. Simultaneously, from September 30 to October 7, numerous Minnan culture performances and exhibitions took place in Xiamen, bringing together youth and cultural heritage custodians from both sides.

These vibrant cultural exchanges highlight the strong desire for interaction between the communities on either side of the strait. During the 19th Cross-Strait Tourism Expo, Lai Sezhen, Chairperson of the Taiwan Tourism Exchange Association, emphasized that travel is the most effective way to enhance cross-strait communication. The tourism sectors on both sides are innovating their cooperation efforts, deepening mutual understanding, and fostering closer ties among tourism professionals, which is vital for revitalizing the tourism industry.

A representative from Fujian China Travel Service Co., Ltd. observed that since September, there has been a steady uptick in bookings for travel from Fujian to both Kinmen and Matsu.

To further encourage Taiwanese visitors to discover Fujian, Xiamen Jianfa International Travel Agency Group Co., Ltd. has strengthened partnerships with major travel agencies in Taiwan, actively showcasing the province’s rich cultural and tourism offerings. The agency is expecting to welcome nearly 400 Taiwanese tourists during the National Day holiday, with tours that include Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Putian, and Nanping, providing visitors with an immersive experience of Fujian’s natural beauty and cultural allure.

Furthermore, officials from Xiamen Travel International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. indicated they have already secured bookings for 20 groups of Taiwanese travelers scheduled from October 8 to 15, anticipating approximately 500 visitors in total.
