On October 22, the National Energy Administration of China announced the issuance and trading data for Green Power Certificates for September 2024.
In September 2024, the agency issued a total of 477 million green certificates. The breakdown reveals that wind power contributed 111 million certificates, accounting for 23.17% of the total. Solar power followed with 70.44 million certificates, or 14.76%. Conventional hydropower led with 256 million certificates, making up 53.66%. Biomass power generated 39.52 million certificates, equating to 8.28%, while other renewable energy sources added 620,000 certificates, representing just 0.13%.
By the end of September 2024, the cumulative number of issued green certificates reached 2.319 billion. This total includes 793 million certificates from wind power (34.19%), 484 million from solar power (20.86%), 885 million from conventional hydropower (38.16%), 156 million from biomass power (6.71%), and 1.9 million from other renewable sources (0.08%).
In September 2024, a total of 44.87 million green certificates were traded nationwide, with 20.68 million of these being traded alongside green electricity. Cumulatively, by the end of September 2024, there have been 359 million certificates traded, including 185 million associated with green electricity transactions.
