On the evening of October 25th, the grand opening of the “Quanzhou Fashion Season” showcased the stunning maritime runway show “All Things Return to the Heart” at the Shihu Port in Shishi City, Quanzhou, Fujian Province. The event uniquely extended the runway out onto the water, seamlessly weaving traditional performances such as Nanyin music, string puppetry, and Liyuan opera into the experience for attendees, brilliantly illustrating the intersection of historical culture and fashion art.
The show was the brainchild of Mr. Cabbeen, the founder of the Cabbeen brand, who collaborated with renowned director Xiao Xiangrong and his creative team. Their vision was to blend history with fashion and art, while also expressing Mr. Cabbeen’s deep emotional ties to his hometown of Quanzhou Shishi.
On the same day, the Quanzhou Fashion Industry Alliance was officially established. Comprising 23 leading brand enterprises, the alliance encompasses 761 textile and footwear companies and over 10,000 manufacturers and suppliers, aiming to create a collaborative development framework led by the alliance, supported by trade associations, with wide participation from enterprises.
Zhou Shaoxiong, the executive chairman of the Quanzhou Fashion Industry Alliance, observed, “The fashion industry is a dynamic and innovative field with enormous growth potential.” He emphasized that the alliance would focus on five key areas: industrial innovation and upgrade, brand building and value enhancement, talent cultivation and recruitment, industry ecosystem development, and international exchange and cooperation, all to promote the growth of Quanzhou’s fashion industry.
With nine manufacturing industry clusters each exceeding 100 billion yuan, Quanzhou’s textile and clothing sector boasts an annual output value of over 700 billion yuan. Over the past two decades, the textile and apparel industry in Quanzhou has thrived under the guidance of the “Jinjiang Experience,” resulting in a complete industrial chain with numerous leading enterprises, specialized companies, and well-known brands.
Chen Dapeng, president of the China National Garment Association, stated that the establishment of the Quanzhou Fashion Industry Alliance would facilitate the integration of fashion industry resources from Quanzhou, across China, and even globally. This approach would foster deep collaborative innovation in the industry chain, create an international fashion industry ecosystem, and enhance the overall competitiveness of Quanzhou’s fashion industry, laying a solid foundation for building world-class enterprises, brands, and an international fashion capital.
Quanzhou Mayor Cai Zhansheng highlighted that the formation of the Quanzhou Fashion Industry Alliance reflects entrepreneurs’ keen insights into changing market demands, sparking internal motivation and a renewed commitment to entrepreneurial endeavors. He also noted it is a crucial step for Quanzhou’s industry chain optimization, core competitiveness enhancement, and expedited brand globalization, marking a significant move from being a “manufacturing stronghold” to becoming a “fashion capital.”
“Quanzhou will provide warmer services, more efficient guarantees, and higher-quality policies to ensure that entrepreneurs can invest comfortably, innovate with ease, and develop confidently, collectively striving to transform Quanzhou into a ‘fashion capital’ representing China’s dialogue with the world,” Cai emphasized.
