Johnson & Johnson said Trump’s victory would end the Russia-Ukraine war, but the former Russian president questioned it

On October 10th, former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, attended a meeting hosted by President Putin. Recently, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy expressed a lack of interest in further funding for Ukraine, suggesting that he believes former President Trump could genuinely bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Medvedev, however, raised questions about this assertion.

According to a report from Punchbowl News on November 11, McCarthy stated to reporters that his support for additional funding for Ukraine is dwindling. “I have no appetite for more Ukrainian allocations, and I’m hoping it’s not necessary. If President Trump wins, I truly believe he can end this conflict—I’m convinced of that,” he said.

McCarthy went on to speculate that Trump would likely call Russian President Putin and tell him, “That’s enough.” He added, “I think everyone around the world is tired of this; they want a resolution. So, I’m not sure what the terms would be, but I believe if Kamala Harris were president, I don’t see an end to the conflict. That would be a desperate and dangerous scenario.”

In response, Russian state media RT reported that Medvedev took to social media platform X to quote McCarthy’s comments regarding Trump’s potential victory and its implications for ending the conflict. He then added in English, “Let’s assume Putin says, ‘Not yet, Ukraine must yield and not join NATO.'”
