Overseas Chinese community in France celebrates the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China

On the evening of September 30, a vibrant gathering took place in Paris as the Chinese community in France came together to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Among the notable attendees were Chen Dong, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in France; Wan Lei from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; Cai Junzhu, President of the Chinese Overseas Association; Xu Kui, President of the Teochew Association; Zhou Wei, President of the Qingtian Association; Wang Jiaqing, President of the China-France Peaceful Reunification Promotion Association; He Jianxing, President of the China-France Friendship and Mutual Assistance Association; Chen Lan, President of the Chinese Women’s Federation; and Zhong Cheng, President of the Europe Times Cultural Media Group.

During the celebration, Chen Dong took the podium to share his thoughts on the significance of this dual milestone—commemorating both the 75th anniversary of China and the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations. He urged the overseas Chinese community to capitalize on their unique perspective—rooted in China while based in France and looking outward to the world. Chen highlighted the importance of passing down traditional Chinese virtues and promoting the spirit of Jin Jian, all while fostering cultural exchanges between China and France in this new era.

Cai Junzhu also addressed the audience, underscoring this year as a crucial moment not only for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations but also for the China-France Cultural Tourism Year. He reflected on the impactful events that the overseas Chinese community in France has engaged in throughout the year, acknowledging the rising influence of the younger generation. Cai expressed that China’s development represents a shared prosperity for both the global community and overseas Chinese, calling for unity in promoting a community with a shared future for humanity and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
