It will be rainy in the southwest and weak cold air will affect the north

A recent report from the Central Meteorological Observatory indicates that weather monitoring on October 7 showed light rainfall across much of the country. However, some regions experienced more substantial precipitation, notably in western Yunnan, northeastern Guangdong, southern Hainan, eastern coastal Fujian, and northern and central Taiwan. In particular, Pu’er, Zhangzhou, and Xiamen in Yunnan and Fujian saw heavy to torrential downpours, with localized rainfall in Yilan, Taiwan, reaching an impressive 294 mm.

Looking ahead, the forecast for the next three days suggests generally weak precipitation nationwide, with rain primarily concentrated in the southwestern areas. Overcast and rainy conditions are expected in places like the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, southern Sichuan, central and northern Yunnan, and western Guizhou. Certain regions in southeastern Tibet, southwestern Sichuan, and northern Yunnan may experience moderate to heavy rain along with the possibility of localized thunderstorms. Furthermore, central and southern Qinghai, as well as the northern Sichuan Plateau, might see light to moderate snow or rain mixed with snow.

Regarding the cold air, a weak cold front is projected to affect the northern regions from October 8 to 10. This weather change is expected to result in a temperature drop of 3 to 6 degrees Celsius in parts of Northwest China, North China, and Northeast China, with north winds gusting to 6 to 8 on the Beaufort scale. Residents are urged to be mindful of the significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, and to take necessary precautions to stay warm, especially during early morning and evening outings.

In addition, before this cold air arrives, from October 8 to 9, southern North China and western Huanghuai are likely to experience moderate atmospheric dispersion conditions. Consequently, light haze is anticipated in central and southern Hebei, much of Henan, and western Shandong, with pockets of moderate haze. As the cold air moves in on the night of October 9, these haze conditions are expected to gradually clear from north to south.
