Second-hand website Redeluxe targets elite customers

What can you tell us about Redeluxe, the final destination for the deep green Birkin bag?

Founded in Dallas, Texas, Redeluxe is run by a husband-and-wife duo. Hunter Swain, the husband, started his career as a pastor but transitioned to becoming a YouTuber, feeling a calling to serve his congregation in a different way. However, his channel currently boasts only 2,840 subscribers and a total of 131,196 views.

His wife, Georgia Swain, met Hunter in seminary. In 2019, a significant shift occurred in her life when she decided to treat herself better. While going through her closet, she unearthed a Louis Vuitton wallet and decided to auction it online. The proceeds allowed her to purchase a new handbag, and from that moment, inspired by what she viewed as divine guidance, she chose to start Redeluxe as a resale business.

As Redeluxe flourished, Hunter joined the operations, with Georgia taking on the role of spokesperson, promoting new products on TikTok and Instagram.

In just the first three years, Redeluxe achieved impressive sales of $7 million, and Hunter attributes their success to “our CEO, the Holy Spirit.” In 2023, the couple completed construction on their new home, a 3,800-square-foot residence in the Dallas suburbs with a stunning lake view.

However, their success isn’t solely attributable to divine intervention. Redeluxe promises to pay sellers within 48 hours of a sale, with a particular focus on a range of Birkin bags, including ultra-rare models reserved for elite clients.

When it comes to Hermès, the term “elite clients” refers to the VIPs within VIPs, with some rare bags requiring a waitlist of at least three years. For instance, Christie’s auctioned off a rare canary yellow crocodile skin bag from this series in 2023 for a staggering $93,000.

Karla Sunceri, a known reseller in Los Angeles, also supplies merchandise to Redeluxe. From February to June of the previous year, the company paid her $121,245. When asked about other major suppliers, the Swains declined to comment. Their attorney, Stephen Kennedy, pointedly remarked, “Are you trying to pin the blame on innocent people?”

Nonetheless, Redeluxe is not Sunceri’s only outlet for reselling. Platforms like Poshmark also serve as avenues for her merchandise. One website owner shared with the Los Angeles Times that the items sent by Sunceri are packaged in Hermès’ iconic orange boxes, complete with original dust bags and purchase receipts, leaving no room for doubts about their authenticity.
