Supermodel Klaus and his wife bought the -Wave House- with a price reduction of 20 million and a transaction of 29.5 million yuan_1

The iconic “Wave House,” crafted by self-taught architect and avid surfer Harry Gesner in the early 1960s, recently changed hands for $29.5 million after initially being listed at nearly $49.5 million over a year ago. Situated along the picturesque Malibu coast, the property has been acquired by supermodel Karlie Kloss and her billionaire husband, Joshua Kushner.

In a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, it was revealed that there were two potential buyers: Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner, former President Trump’s son-in-law, and his wife, Karlie Kloss. Previously, the home belonged to the late Mo Ostin, a former executive at Warner Bros. Records. Following several price reductions since its listing in June 2023, the property ultimately sold at a significant discount.

The remarkable “Wave House” was envisioned by mid-century architect Harry Gesner to reflect the “surging waves” of the ocean. Elevated on stilts, this modernist gem offers stunning ocean vistas. Nestled within a secluded cove, the house spans 0.7 acres, with its design elements deeply inspired by coastal themes. Notably, the three circular terraces emulate wave patterns, while hand-cut copper shingles resemble fish scales. When viewed from an aerial perspective, the entire structure evokes the form of a sea turtle.

Reports indicate that Gesner spent two days floating on his surfboard sketching out the design to realize his ideal vision. It’s said his initial concepts were drawn directly on his wooden surfboard. When Ostin’s estate was listed in 2023, Gesner’s son, Zen, commented to the media that his father intended for the house to resemble “a wave reaching its most powerful peak.” He elaborated, “When you’re surfing or fishing and you look back at the shore, you would see this highly organic design, looking like a giant wave moving towards the ocean.”

The interior of “Wave House” covers over 6,400 square feet, featuring six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The architectural design highlights bleached hardwood floors, white-painted beamed ceilings, and expansive glass walls. Along with three circular terraces, the property includes a separate garage and guest suite, and has made appearances in various advertising campaigns, as well as in the 2019 film “Yesterday.” Notably, it once served as a home for British pop star Rod Stewart.

On the main level, residents enjoy three spacious oceanfront living rooms, one boasting a cozy fireplace area for conversation, alongside a master suite complete with a hot tub and sauna. The upper level stretches across the entire width of the home, housing five bedrooms, each offering breathtaking ocean views through large windows.
