In a recent press conference, Chen Hsueh-li (left), who is running as the Republican and Conservative candidate for State Senator in Brooklyn’s 17th District, received an endorsement from Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis. During the event, Malliotakis highlighted the alarming crime statistics from the 62nd precinct this year, emphasizing the need for community representatives who are grounded in common sense and respect the rule of law—key reasons for her support of Chen.
The two held their press conference in front of the 62nd precinct, where Chen Hsueh-li criticized the policies supported by current State Senator John Liu, claiming they are contrary to the beliefs of residents in South Brooklyn. “She is not a friend of the community,” he declared, stressing the necessity for a leader who will advocate for them, ensuring a safe living environment and the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.
Malliotakis noted that Chen Hsueh-li is not only a veteran willing to sacrifice for the country but has also continued his service to the community as a member of the New York City Police Department. “Having a leader who supports common-sense policies and understands and respects the rule of law is crucial for the community,” she stated. She further pointed out the troubling crime data in the precinct, including a 19% rise in felony assaults, an 18% increase in car thefts, and a staggering 250% increase in homicides compared to the same period last year. She urged voters to consider these statistics when choosing elected officials who will genuinely prioritize community safety.
