During the 2024 annual meeting and Mid-Autumn Festival celebration hosted by the Chung Shan Medical University Alumni Association of New York, over 150 alumni, guests, and family members gathered from Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, and all five boroughs of New York. Under the warm autumn sun and refreshing breezes, the spacious banquet hall at Brooklyn’s Cuiyuan Restaurant was filled with attendees, ranging from nonagenarians to toddlers, all coming together to celebrate this special occasion.
The event kicked off with a lively introduction by the Alumni Association’s gold-star hosts, Yin Xipeng and Jin Hui. Dr. Liang Weining, the president of the Chung Shan Medical New York Alumni Association and vice president of the Eastern US Alumni Association, delivered the welcoming remarks. Following him, Dr. Zhu Zichao, the chief advisor and secretary-general, introduced the distinguished guests, sponsors, and key leaders from the alumni association. Dr. Sun Yin, representing the hosts, and Dr. Mo Wenzhong, the alumni association president, spoke on behalf of the guests, sharing heartfelt memories, celebrating the current successes, and expressing gratitude towards everyone’s kindness, hoping for a continued brilliance in the years to come. Dr. Deng Ruier, the vice president of the Eastern US Alumni Association, extended a special thank you to the sponsors and supporting alumni.
This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival celebration had a unique twist, featuring a raffle for two grand prizes donated by the Eastern US and New York Alumni Associations. This was followed by a series of draws for a total of 80 prizes, announced through the alumni association’s WeChat groups, interspersed among the delicious dishes served and the vibrant performances by talented alumni who sang, recited, and danced. A particularly memorable moment came when two-year-old Chen Xiaoyou bravely took the stage and recited beautiful lines from classical Chinese poetry, inspiring an impromptu sing-along led by octogenarian alumni member Zhou. Additionally, renowned photographer Xie Bingxu auctioned two award-winning photographs, providing attendees with both artistic enjoyment and the thrill of bidding.
Guests and sponsors attending this grand event included prominent figures such as Mo Wenzhong, president of the Chung Shan University Eastern US Alumni Association; vice president Zhu Zutang; advisors Li Chaohua and Ye Shasha; Chen Mo, president of the Jinan University Eastern US Alumni Association; and Luo Yanna, vice president.
