By outdoor-nature-child.com Nigerian music icon Oladapo Daniel Oyebanji, widely known as D’Banj, is stepping into the football arena with the establishment of Koko FC. The club has been officially registered to participate in Nigeria’s premier private football league, Lagos Liga, which is set to commence in December 2024.
Koko FC will go head-to-head with 11 other teams, including Supremos FC, launched by D’Banj’s long-time friend and fellow music mogul, Don Jazzy. Other notable teams include Mavbrooks SC, founded by career accountant and entrepreneur Ayodeji E. Olowe; Applebee FC, initiated by Nnazilim Egbuonu, the co-founder and Executive Director of Travelbeta; Firecrackers FC, established by tech entrepreneur Stephanie Etiaka; Jarus FC, created by Suraj Oyewale, the Group CEO of Jarus Group, also known as Sir Jarus; Superstar FC, founded by tech entrepreneur Seye Bandele; and Knights FC, set up by Egbe Omorodion, Dr. Dipo Awojide, Adebayo Jacobs-Amoo, and Adewale Adetona.
The league is positioned to provide an exciting platform for both non-professional players and seasoned football veterans to compete in high-stakes 7-a-side matches. Organizers have announced that a whopping N50 million prize is at stake—the largest per-game prize money in Nigerian football history.
D’Banj expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled to take my passion for football to the next level with Koko FC. Lagos Liga is an innovative platform that will showcase Nigerian talent and entertainment. I’m looking forward to an epic matchup against the other teams; it’s going to be a clash of titans!”

The league will introduce a unique format that includes a Fans Challenge and Skills Challenge, providing fans with exciting prizes and an immersive experience.
