The Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt reports on the series of rape cases in the consular district

In recent days, there have been alarming reports of rape incidents targeting Chinese women within the jurisdiction of the Chinese Consulate in Frankfurt. On October 21, the Consulate issued a statement providing updates on the situation and safety warnings.

According to information released by local German police, the suspect is believed to be of Chinese nationality. Their modus operandi involves impersonating a female identity and using platforms like WeChat and Xiaohongshu to post rental advertisements. The suspect then arranges to meet the victims under the pretense of viewing rental properties, where the assaults occur.

The Chinese Consulate in Frankfurt expressed serious concern over these events. Upon receiving reports of these incidents, the Consulate promptly contacted local law enforcement to offer cooperation and expedite the investigation, ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens in Germany. Currently, the Hesse state police are disseminating alerts in German, Chinese, and English, and have established a Chinese hotline. The relevant departments in China are maintaining communication with German authorities to safeguard the legal rights of its citizens.

Given the nature and details of these cases, the Chinese Consulate urges all women in Germany to exercise heightened caution when hosting prospective renters or buyers. They recommend avoiding one-on-one meetings with visitors and ensuring that communication devices remain accessible. In emergencies, individuals should call 110 for immediate assistance and can also reach out to the following emergency contacts. If anyone has information related to the suspect or victims, it is important to report it to local police or the nearest Chinese consulate.
